Trip to Vienna, Austria

I’m back home from a great trip, one of my favorites this year. I was about to cancel everything after I sprained my ankle, just a few days before my trip was about to start. It was scary as hell and I just couldn’t believe that this was happening to me. I had to stay put a few days and even though I wasn’t 100% sure that It will be OK, I still embarked on this trip and I’m happy I did.

It was my first time in Vienna and all I can say is that this city is literal perfection, mesmerizing, super invaded by tourists and a great place to chill and spend your vacations. I’m in love with seeing different types of architecture and Vienna had so much to offer that it is basically impossible to see everything in a few days. It was a complete delight to get lost on the Viennese streets because with every corner you got to discover something new. Even though I’m not a big fan of the free tours, I went to one in Vienna and damn it was all worth it. It lasted only two hours but we got to listen to some mesmerizing stories about Vienna and its sad history and about the fact that they never got to win anything, weird emperors, rich life and so on. Special thanks to Primetours.at for a great and interactive tour.

As I said in a previous post, Vienna is quite a modern city and what I like most about it is the fact that you can feel the simplicity and the elegance of its life-style. Once you get there, you will totally understand why Vienna is considered as the most live-able city in the world. It has all the conditions to make you feel at home.

Vienna is also quite a big city which makes it a bit difficult to discover everything by foot. Anyway, no worries about that because it has one of the best transportation systems in the world (trams, the famous U-Bahn metros and buses). A ticket for one metro ride is 2,40 euros and you can get from one corner of Vienna to another in less than 20 minutes. What’s really interesting is that their metro is based on an honesty system, which means that you still need to buy the ticket but there won’t be anyone who will check if you bought it or not. Of course there are U-Bahn employees dressed as random citizens that can actually catch you and then you need to pay a pretty fine of over 100 euros. Still, wouldn’t risk it, or maybe once or twice if I’m crazy enough.

I could chill for hours in the Viennese parks, watch the on-going traffic which, yes, it does include old-school horse carriages. I was also blessed to get only good weather, even though on my first day here it was a bit cloudy.

Next coming up is a full article about my trip to amazing city of Graz. Can’t wait to show you the breathtaking pictures I’ve taken and the funny stories. Until then, Guten Abend! 🙂

As a child growing up in a quaint Western Romanian town, I never imagined that I would one day have the opportunity to travel the world. But now, I'm living proof that with dedication, passion, and a willingness to try new things, anything is possible. The key is to always stay true to yourself and embrace all that life has to offer. By doing so, you too can turn your dreams into reality.
