Eurovision 2021 Review

The Grand Final of Eurovision 2021 took part last night and Italy was crowned as the new winner of the contest after a tough race with the other two contenders: France and Switzerland. As usual, the jury votes and the public votes didn’t match but the good news is that the public had the final say when the winner was revealed.

The first votes that were revealed, were the jury votes where sadly Switzerland came first. It is definitely not a bad song but it was for sure extremely overrated both online and by the juries. It was a song created to impress the juries but thankfully it didn’t have the same impact on the general public. Thus, Switzerland failed to win while Italy scored over 300 points with the televoting, making it the clear winner of the contest this year.

Overall, it was a nice and special Eurovision season. Sweden was finally not overrated by the juries as we were used to seeing every single year and of course, the traditional political voting was not that impactful but sadly after analyzing the votes, we can see that new ‘friendships’ were created.

Kirkorov definitely worked hard this year to created new alliances for his song that represented Moldova. And as of this year, we can notice the ‘square of love’ between Moldova, Bulgaria, Greece, and Russia. Besides that, the traditional voting patterns occurred again (Greece for Cyprus and vice-versa, Romania for Moldova, Azerbaijan for Russia and vice-versa, all Scandinavian countries voting for each other, and so on).

However, Italy was definitely not involved in such matters, and they truly deserved to finally get the trophy back home after 31 years. In my opinion, Italy should have won even in 2015 but again, the public and juries were inconsistent and the juries had the final say that year but thankfully the history didn’t repeat itself this year. I can’t wait for the next adventure that is set to start in the beautiful country of Italy and I’m curious to see which Italian city will get to host the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

  1. My favorites finally won the contest! I loved these guys so much and I am so happy they won! I was shocked by some of the results (Mainly San Marino and Azerbaijan) but overall it was a great show and a tough final. Can’t wait to see what the future will bring! #RockAndRollNeverDies!

  2. There were so many amazing performances, my favorites didn’t win, but when do they? However, I still won a new love. You were right, Italy should have won either with Il Volo or Mahmood.
