Exploring Szeged, Hungary

It’s been a hectic weekend with a really cool city break in Szeged, Hungary. Every time I was travelling to Budapest by Flixbus or by car, I was always passing by Szeged but never actually had the chance to explore it properly. Even though, I initially planned a city break in Romania, I had a last-minute plan change and switched to Szeged instead (best idea ever).

So how is Szeged? To keep it short & simple, this city is really nice and you basically can’t get bored exploring it. There’s always something cool to see and even though it’s not a big city, you still have a lot of things to explore. Szeged is like a city of statues because everywhere you go you will find amazing statues carved in stone or metal and you basically can’t handle yourself to photograph them. (Yes, I think Szeged has more statues than Budapest – the capital).

Szeged is quite a colorful city, with many places to chill and Hungarians absolutely love to chill and eat ice-cream (I noticed an ice-cream mania or maybe it was just me craving one). The biggest park is situated across the bridge and it’s called “Elisabeth Park”. It’s the perfect place to chill during the weekend or even to exercise each morning. Talking about exercise, Szeged has incredible cycling tracks that run all over the city, not like in Timisoara where these are quite limited.

Overall, this city is great and can be the perfect city break if you study in advance all the cool places that you need to check. Special thanks to Okszi Vendeghaz for hosting me this weekend, a really cool and cozy place to stay at. Also, again, special thanks to Flixbus for providing transport. You can find cheap tickets to Szeged from Timisoara for as low as 25 lei (around 5 euros). Looking forward for the next adventure, enjoy the pictures! 🙂

As a child growing up in a quaint Western Romanian town, I never imagined that I would one day have the opportunity to travel the world. But now, I'm living proof that with dedication, passion, and a willingness to try new things, anything is possible. The key is to always stay true to yourself and embrace all that life has to offer. By doing so, you too can turn your dreams into reality.
